Myanmar Travel Guide

One week from today, I will be in Myanmar beginning a 10-day tour of all the country has to offer. As I prepare for my trip, I am diligently collecting resources and preparing so that on my return, I can offer a Myanmar Guide! I am going to Yangon, Bagan, and Inle Lake. Below is a rough cut of what I hope the guide to cover. As readers and travelers, what information would you like me to add or include in this guide to be of best value for you?

  1. The guide looks really good so far. I would maybe add something like a larger content (for example: Myanmar compared to other Asian states). That’s not an easy task but may be interesting for you as well! Looking foward to reading more of your experience in Myanmar 🙂

    1. Hey Amanda,

There aren’t many lodging options. In fact, what we would consider low budget hotels or hostels is actually highly priced hotels in Myanmar, based on the research I’ve done. As for homestays, I believe locals can get in trouble for having foreigners stay in their homes. The country is more open, but I think the government is still leery about tourism. I will definitely collect the information I can and also write up how closely I was able to interact and engage in the local culture in relation to my hotels. Hope this helps!
